Art launch – This Friday 1st September

Above Aberdeen Art Fair (AAF) 2022.

I’m really excited to be showing with the Limetree Gallery as part of this year’s Aberdeen Art Fair. The AAF is a yearly public event that attracts galleries, collectors and buyers from across the UK.

It was nice to recieve a mention in Aberdeen Live who were interested to hear that a selection of my paintings (commissioned by the Folio Society for their publication of Nan Shepherd’s Scottish classic The Living Mountain)  will be on exhibition at AAF this year with the Limetree.

Aberdeenshire is of course the birthplace and lifelong home of Nan Shepherd, so I’ll be taking the opportunity to appreciate the landscape while up there this weekend as I’ll definitely be heading up to attend the AAF on Friday. Hope to see you there!

Applecross series day 8

'Ardban Morning Sunlight'. Oil on 19 x 19" wood. Rose Strang 2020

‘Ardban Morning Sunlight’. Oil on 19 x 19″ wood. Rose Strang 2020

Today’s paintings for the new series for the Limetree Gallery Bristol.

There’s a definite feel to the series noiw – driving through the rainy dramatic mountains of Kintail then reaching the west coast light of the Applecross peninsula. I’m very happy with the Kintail series, though I know some people might find those a little dark, I just find that drenched sort of autumnal mountainscape relaxing.

I have three paintings to complete, then the series wil be finished. More tomorrow …

Today’s paintings of Applecross for the Limetree exhibition which launches 31st October.

A bit more experimentation today as I feel my way into this new series. These are both in oils – I wanted to say a bit more with less. It’s not quite getting there yet but these have more of the mood I’m trying to capture. I’ll be painting seven seas in different moods, also forests. Just to try something completely new I’ll be painting some road sketches sine the journey to Applecross is so dramatic.

More tomorrow …
