I N T R O

The Water of Leith series was painted in May 2020, in the first months of lockdow, when I could only work close to home. Its subject is the river that runs the length of Edinburgh, from the Pentland Hills in the south to the Shore at Leith in the north. Reflections of new leafs against dark peaty water,  weirs, gardens glimpsed across the far bank. The paintings are small, in oil on wood, several of them diptychs.  It is a calm series, echoing something of the quiet of that particular time. The works were shown at the Limetree Gallery, Bristol, in 2020.
